It's been forever...

I know that it's been forever since we last posted anything, so here's the update. I've started basketball season and the boys are doing well. My JV has been playing very well, and we've won more games than last year. The Varsity is also playing extremely well. They're 4-3 on the young season going into the Winter Break. There is a whole lot of drama between the town and the team, just like last year, but it's all stupid. Anyway, we're going to be home for Christmas morning, then going on a long road trip to Castle Dale for a couple of hours then up to Provo to be with my parents for a couple of days, with the ability to go to the Maughan Family Christmas party for the first time in several years. Then we'll head back down to Castle Dale for a couple of days, then back home, hopefully for a couple days rest before school starts again. The kids are excited for Christmas and we can't keep Pete from trying to eat all the Christmas goodies that we have around the house. It's funny that he's always hungry for snacks but he never wants to eat his meals... Pete has also started getting a greater vocabulary than just "Uh oh", "Uh huh" and "Ball", he just started saying "No" which is not so good, but he is also saying "Mom" or "Momma", "Dahy", and he tries to say "Belle" and "Look". It looks to be a very busy holiday season for us. Merry Christmas to all who read!

Halloween

Halloween has again come and gone. As usual, I didn't want to dress up. I know, I'm such a party pooper. Anyway, Melissa made me dress up for the Halloween carnival at the elementary school. Although it was only my "This IS my Halloween costume" T-shirt. I would just like to mention that in the picture, the person wearing the Utah shirt is not affiliated with me. Basketball practice is nearing. We start on November 10th. It has been weird the past couple weeks not having practice after school and going home at 3:30 PM. Pete has begun talking more and more, well, kind of talking. Using limited words, very limited, but he is making lots more meaningful noise than he used to. It's very interesting how he just started one day. He was very quiet and one day he just started getting things out.

Been a while...

I figured that it was high time that we post again. Robbie's birthday was a success with presents abounding, as seen above... My baseball team has now won ten straight games, with this weekend and last weekend. That means that we are playing for the Region Championship next weekend, because we are playing the other team that is tied with us. Then we had Melon Days yesterday and today. Images from the parade are <---- (on the float is Belle in the white ahirt with her mother hiding behind in the straw hat.)For those of you not in Utah, or from Utah, Green River is famous for their watermelons, so that is what our celebration fruit is. Anyway, a zillion people descend on this tiny town on I-70 and our poplulation for one day grows by at least a factor of 5, although I don't profess to be very good at higher math. It just gets crazy... Next week we're going to the circus in Salt Lake, so it's going to be a long day. We're hoping that we won't have to hurry back to Green River for church on Sunday, fingers crossed.

Hooray for the weekend, I guess...

Finally the week is over, and I'm so tired. Unfortunately nobody really gets a rest during the weekend at our house.
It's time for another baseball doubleheader. Today's game is against Tintic, but at home thank goodness. We recieved a blow to our team by finding out today that our starting 3rd baseman tore both his ACL and MCL in our second game last week. There's actually a story about it at http://www.deseretnews.com/blogs/1,5322,21,00.html?bD=20080903&sc=dmn; we had to recruit another player to take his place. It's unfortunate for him, because it means he can't do anything for 9 months. So he can't play basketball for us either.
Robbie is so excited for his birthday tomorrow. We've been hearing about it since before last school year was over, but it's almost here now. It should be an exciting day. I just hope he doesn't decide to wake up with the sun and let us sleep in a little for one Saturday.

Another day, another 10 cents...

Today was pretty much like every other school day, get students to settle down, teach the finer points of Driver's Ed, teach something to the 7th and 8th graders in PE, then baseball practice, then finish off by giving a driving test. Well, everything was good until the driving test. I had my first student ever fail the driving test. I tried really hard to just be nice and whatever, but when he drove down the wrong side of the road on Main Street for 1.5 blocks, I just couldn't overlook it. But it's okay he's going to have another chance next week. It was really hard to tell him that he had failed, andI didn't go any further with the test, because a mistake that big is an automatic failure. Anyway, Robbie's birthday is on Saturday; he turns 6 years old. I can't believe he's that old... I am so tired and I want the weekend to come, but I don't, you know? I want the rest, but I know that I'm not going to get any...

Labor Day Weekend

Well, the weekend was pretty good. Learned that Mom is doing better and finally home, which is very good. Then one of our cars died, well more accurately, the battery died. So, it's in the shop, but luckily since I'm the Driver's Ed teacher, I can drive that car to school. Belle is excited for pre-school tomorrow and Melissa is making her final preparations. I (Rob) am just not ready for school again tomorrow, not that I don't like it, but days off just don't seem like enough. I did have a pretty good 9 holes of golf this morning, and parred the last hole, which is right in front of our house, just ahead of a big rainstorm that hit us minutes later. I really need to get out golfing more, but now that school has started, I just don't have the time....

And so it begins....

Well, since just about everyone else that we know has a blog, Rob decided that maybe we need to also. Especially since rumors started that we had one.... So here we are, living life in Green River. Robbie is one week into kindergarten and has decided to be Douglas at school, which is very confusing for all the kids who knew him from before kindergarten, but that is what he decided. He does NOT want to be called that at home, so it's all very interesting. Rob is busy as always at school, wearing 7 different hats at last count. But he is home on the weekend... Belle and Melissa are preparing for pre-school, and Peter is gaining his own personality. Everything is going well, and we're ready for a non-school day!
